A way to mechanically transfer force and motion between surfaces that are not in direct contact with one another is through the use of frictional geared discs and rings. These tools rotate in relation to one another as a result of the frictional forces between the gear teeth, which transmits power and motion. The usage of friction discs slows or stops the action of the drive shafts, which in turn prevents the wheels from turning. For the purpose of transferring energy from one rotating part to another rotating member, friction clutches and friction brakes use friction geared discs and rings.
